The Festival is divided into classes that include:

  • Verse Speaking

  • Group Acting

The Festival offer students the opportunity to:

  • perform in front of an audience
  • adapt the classroom prepared performance to meet the demands of a larger space
  • discover that nerves are not only natural when giving a performance, but useful too
  • put theory into practice
  • learn from watching the performances of other students
  • learn from the professionals

The Festival is a competition, however the aim is to underplay the competitive aspect of the festival. Students should enjoy taking part and have fun and all those who step bravely onto the stage should be very proud of their achievement.

Every year the festival is adjudicated by an esteemed theatrical professional and each entrant receives a written adjudication sheet.

The top three placing students in each class receive medals and certificates. Various cups and shields are also awarded to winners in solo and group classes.
